DHI shines at prestigious Dredging & Port Construction Innovation Awards 2016

Anders Jensen (Lifetime Achievement Award), Sina Saremi (Rising Star Award) and DHI project ‘Hvide Sande Harbour, Denmark’ were presented with top industry honours at the awards ceremony in London, 10 November.

About the awards
The inaugural DPC Innovation Awards are the first universal benchmark of quality within the dredging and port construction industry; the rigorous judging process involved companies from all over the world submitting their entries to be judged by elite industry experts, making the DPC Innovation Awards the most coveted industry accolade.

DHI’s wins and highly commended project

  • Lifetime Achievement Award
    Anders Jensen, Group Manager Survey & Monitoring, Coastal and Estuarine

Supported by the Central Dredging Association (CEDA), this award honours Anders for his contributions to the industry throughout his 31-year career. Anders has been active his entire career with issues related to dredging and has contributed to CEDA in many ways, including serving as President for eight outstanding years (2007-2015).

Anders was one of the key people in the development and implementation of ‘feedback monitoring’ for the Øresund Fixed Link project (1993-2000) which has been for years a role model project for environmental friendly dredging. The principles developed during this game-changing project is now used worldwide.

  • Rising Star Award
    Dr. Sina Saremi, Coastal Engineer, Coastal and Estuarine

Sponsored by DEME, the Rising Star Award recognises Sina for his PhD work and the subsequent implementation of the advanced modelling techniques in practical applications for quantifying the details of the near field around spilling operations.

  • Working with Nature Award – Highly Commended
    Hvide Sande Harbour Project, Denmark
DHI’s Hvide Sande Harbour project was highly commended for the re-design of structures and of management of the dredging around the harbour, a ‘by-pass harbour’ on the Danish West coast. The project studied and developed ways to optimise a small harbour on a coast with high littoral drift rate.
