On the 26-27 May 2016, DHI Thailand conducted its 10th annual User Group Meeting (UGM) in Bangkok, Thailand. With a focus on new software features, the meeting provided participants with presentations by DHI experts and invited speakers of various water environment fields including water resources and urban and marine water. The event gathered more than 100 participants on the two days, many of whom were government officials, engineers and researchers, amongst others.

DHI had invited seven speakers for the event from the Thai Royal Irrigation Department, Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute, Burapha University, Kasetsart University and Panya Consultants Co., Ltd, in addition to our own scientists and engineers which included Torben Strange Jensen and Niels Hvam from DHI Denmark and Somchai Chonwattana from DHI Thailand.

The meeting was divided into two parts; the first day consisted of presentations and discussions, whereas the second day provided participants with training on the usage of the MIKE HYDRO River and MIKE 21 Shoreline Management conducted by DHI’s Dr Somchai Chonwattana and Niels Hvam respectively.

The UGM was a success and it marked DHI as a key industry player in water technologies in Thailand. We are keen to continue our good work to better serve the people of Thailand with our knowledge and expertise in water environments.

‘Joining MIKE by DHI UGM 2016, I was able to meet and discuss with many experienced water modelling users and experts both from DHI and in Thailand. The UGM helped me to get the solutions I needed for my water problems.’ – Dr Panuwat Pinthong, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok.
